Megtanultam
másképp nézni a Természetre, mint a
gondtalan ifjú; s kihallom belőle
az emberiség csöndes, bús zenéjét:
nem durva, sértő, de van ereje,
hogy tisztítson, legyőzzön. Szellemet
láttam meg benne, nagy eszmék vidám
izgatóját; valami áthatóbb,
fenséges értelmet, melynek lakása
a naplementék tündöklése és
az élő szél s a kerek óceán
és a kék ég.
